3rd Town Hall Meeting for Wake County Elections

  • 22 Oct 2016
  • 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM
  • As-Salaam Islamic Center, 1214 East Lenoir Street, Raleigh, NC 27610

On October 22, 2016 from 2-5 pm, The As-Salaam Islamic Center and the Education Justice Alliance in association with the Muslim American Public Affairs Council will sponsor a Town Hall Meeting for candidates for the Wake County Board of Commissioners and Board of Education as well as those State and Federal legislative and Council of State offices to be elected in November that were not covered in the 1st Town Hall Meeting.

Due to the large number of candidates on the ballot this November, there will be 3 Town Hall Meetimgs in Wake County, each hosting a different set of candidates. The October 22 event will focus on candidates for the Wake County Board of Commissioners and the Wake County Board of Education, as well as candidates for the US and the State of North Carolina Senates. The meeting will be held at the As-Salaam Islamic Center near downtown Raleigh. All Muslim and Hispanic residents in the Triangle area are urged to come. The Education Justice Alliance will offer interpretation services.

Candidates will be given an opportunity to make prepared statements explaining who they are and why they feel they should be elected, then there will be a refreshment and snack break where the candidates can mingle with community members in attendance and hear their views. The social/snack break will be followed by a formal, moderated question and answer session during which time candidates will be asked to answer questions from representatives of various organizations and other members of the audience.
